Monitoring - IS&T has determined that the Cisco AnyConnect VPN service has reached the limits of its hardware capacity. VPN users are advised to begin using MIT's new Prisma Access VPN service.

IS&T will begin retiring the Cisco AnyConnect service this summer. Further announcements will be made as the schedule is finalized.

Investigating - IS&T is aware of some users experiencing problems establishing a session to the MIT Remote Access VPN (Cisco/AnyConnect) after authentication.

Note: Users can use the new (beta) Prisma Access VPN service while IS&T investigates if they are among those experiencing the issue.

Scheduled - The IP addresses of the IS&T DNS server hosts have changed:

OLD ==> NEW
18.70.0.160 ==> 18.0.70.160
18.71.0.151 ==> 18.0.71.151
18.72.0.3 ==> 18.0.72.3

Any device configured using the IS&T DHCP servers (e.g. wireless devices, most wired devices on the standard building subnets) will automatically be updated to reflect this change.

*** For devices that are configured statically, device owners will need to manually update the device’s configured DNS nameservers to use the new IP addresses. The new IP addresses are functioning today and are already responding to DNS queries. The old IP addresses will be retired as the community completes the migration to the new IP addresses over the coming weeks.

MIT’s Code42/Crashplan backup infrastructure will be migrating from on premise to the cloud. All product naming will be changing from Crashplan to Code42 at that time. User devices will continue to backup without issue during the migration. Restores will be available throughout most of the migration, but we advise users to hold off until the migration is completed.

BeyondTrust Appliance Upgrade Jan 26, 19:00-20:00 EST
We will be upgrading the BeyondTrust appliance on Tuesday, January 26th at 7pm. During that time existing connections will break and the appliance will be unavailable. Downtime will be between 15 minutes and 1 hour, however we expect it to be closer to 15 minutes.

Scheduled - The TSM server that manages access to our Automated Tape Library (ATL) will undergo maintenance on Tuesday January 12 from 5:00pm, the maintenance is expected to last 3 hours.
Please note that during the work, restore processes on any TSM server may pause or fail, if/when they need to mount a tape in a drive. This work will not affect desktop restores via Code42/Crashplan.
